Haynes Eagle, p. 7:17 identifies Ruth as d/o John Haynes and Ruth Roper, b. Sudbury 4 Mar 1685/86. But the 1929 Walter Haynes genealogy, p. 59, says it must be her mother Ruth (Ropar) Haynes that married Deacon Daniel Stone. J. Gardner Bartlett in the Gregory Stone genealogy, 82 "(Dea. Daniel Stone) married thirdly, in Framingham, 18 Nov. 1712, RUTH HAYNES, born there 4 Mar. 1685/6. daughter of John and Ruth (Roper) Haynes; she was living in 1719; no children." Frederick Haynes Newell, in "Descendants of Walter Haynes and Peter Noyes, of Sudbury, Mass." NEHGR 47 [Jan 1893] : 71-75 says (at 47:74), "JOHN(3) Haynes [John(2), Walter(1)] of Sudbury … m. June 1683, Ruth, daughter of John Ropar of Charlestown. … (second child) Ruth, b. Mar. 4, 1686; m. Nov. 1732, Joseph Goodnow; no children." The father, John Haynes, d. 11 Dec 1710 according to published Sudbury vital records, p. 311. That, plus the age difference, suggests it probably was the mother that married the 68 year old Dea. Daniel Stone, rather than the 26 year old daughter. References
