Following the death of his first wife Grizel Moncrieff Lumsden on 13 Aug 1939, Cuthbert Thomas Finch Field married Elsie Geraldine de Mattos in Gloucester in 1940. Elsie Geraldine de Mattos (born in 1890 in Burton on Trent) was the daughter of George William Comber de Mattos (born in 1849 in Islington) and Anne Julia Stafford (born in 1854 in South Carolina), and the twin sister of Hilda May de Mattos
