Cletus and Susan were married at St. Louis Catholic Church at Besancon, Indiana. In 1949 they lived at 317 E. DeWald Street in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and in 1964, they lived at 1421 Pemberton Drive in Fort Wayne. They had seven children. Susan was 65 years old when she died of a heart attack. Susan's obituary read, "Funeral services for Mrs. Cletus J. Ternet, 65, of 1421 Pemberton Drive, will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the D. O. McComb & Sons Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Jude's Catholic Church, Msgr. Charles F. Girardot officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, New Haven. Mrs. Ternet was dead on arrival at Parkview Memorial Hospital at 10:04 p.m. Wednesday. A native of Paulding County, Ohio, she lived in Fort Wayne 30 years and was a member of St. Jude's Church. She was employed part time at Frank's Department Store. Surviving in addition to her husband, are three sons, Merlin, Fort Wayne, Clifford, Avilla, and Paul; a daughter, Mrs. Odeal Messman, Hicksville, Ohio; a brother, Kenneth Falls, Columbia City; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Rodenbeck and Mrs. Etta Townsend, both of Fort Wayne, and Mrs. Glenola Hewitt, Philadelphia; her stepmother, Mrs. Myrtle Falls, Wolcottville; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Friends may call at the funeral home where Legion of Mary services will be held tonight." [Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, Friday 1 May 1964] Cletus was 79 years old when he died. Cletus' obituary read, "Services for Cletus J. Ternet, 79, of 1421 Pemberton Drive will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday in D. O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in St. Jude Catholic Church. He died at 8:10 p.m. Friday in Lutheran Hospital. Mr. Ternet, a lifelong resident of Fort Wayne, was a retired employee of General Electric Co. Surviving are two sons, Merlin, Fort Wayne, and Clifford, Avilla; a daughter, Mrs. Francis Messman, Hicksville, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Velma Marquardt, Fort Wayne; and a brother, Leslie, Fort Wayne. Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Rosary services will be at 8 p.m. today. Burial will be in New Haven I.O.O.F. Cemetery."
