In the 1911 census questions were asked about number of children and length of marriage. The answer was
"Couple married 40 years, 8 children born alive, children still living: 5, children deceased:3"
The only deceased child noted in the censuses was the unnamed infant in 1871. The other two deceased children must have been born and died between censuses. No attempt has been made to discover their names.
