Carl and Elizabeth were said to have been married by Carl's uncle, Rev. Frederick A. Kahler, who would have traveled from Buffalo, New York to perform the ceremony. No record has been found of the marriage, and we do not have an exact date. Carl's father was a minister as well, but both of his parents were deceased by the time of his marriage. At least seven children were born to this couple.
