    Barent seems to have resided in New York until about 1722 when he went to New Jersey. He was a carpenter and millwright, and, no doubt, worked at his trade about the country until in 1735, when we find him located on a large farm, which he had purchased, about eight miles north of the present City of Martinsburg, W. Va. Here he died in 1768. He left a will in which he mentions part of his children.
