August and Frances were married by Rev. J. Nicholas Allgeier. Frances was 21 years old, and August was 25 and was a farmer in Allen County. It was the first marriage for both of them. They had two children, one son and one daughter. August was living at R. R. #1 in Monroeville, Indiana, when he registered for the draft for World War II. He was 45 years old and gave Mrs. Francis Emenhiser as his next of kin. He was employed by himself. August's obituary reads, "AUGUST J. EMENHISER. August J. Emenhiser, 62, a retired farmer residing at Clear Lake died at 3 p.m. yesterday at his home. He was found dead in the garage at his home at Clear Lake. He was born in Jackson Township and farmed near Monroeville for many years. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of the American Legion Post 47. Surviving are the wife, Frances J.; a son, Joseph E., and a daughter, Mrs. Delmer G. Gick, both of Fort Wayne; a brother, Charles, Hicksville, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Grace Ternet, Monroeville, Mrs. Ada Stairhime, Mobile, Ala., and Mrs. Stella Miller, Duning, N.M., and four grandchildren. The body was brought to the D. O. McComb & Sons Funeral Home." [Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, Monday 2 November 1959, pg. 2] Frances' obituary reads, "FRANCES M. EMENHISER, 85, died at 8:15 a.m. Sunday in St. Anne Home. Born in New Haven, she lived in Fort Wayne most of her life. Surviving are one daughter, Rita Gick, of Fort Wayne; one son, Joseph, of Dawson, Ga.; and three grandchildren. Services at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in D. O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Ave., and 11 a.m. in St. Jude Catholic Church, 2101 Pemberton Drive. Calling from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home.
