Occupation: Farmer and Methodist Minister. Veteran of Civil War. Civil War records establish that Andrew J. Owen enlisted in Company D, 6th Michigan Volunteer Infantry at Kalamazoo, Michigan, February 20, 1861. He was honorably discharged, August 23 1864 as a Private at Kalamazoo. He was 5 feet 4 inches tall, light complexion, blue eyes, and light hair. He was disabled by billious fever and chronic diarrhea. He was pensioned and the pension was dropped July 20, 1904 due to his death, which was caused by Bright's disease. (Bill Owen, Family Group Sheet, 1995.)
