Andrew Anderson, son of Andrew Anderson and Margaret (Mitchell) Anderson, was born in Auchertmichty, Fifeshire, Scotland, say 1846. He died sometime before 11 July 1908, when his wife and two daughters left Scotland for the United States. He married, as his second wife, 28 January 1876, in Glasgow, Scotland, Helen Chapman, who was born say 1855 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

At the time of the 1901 Census, they were living at 102 Alexandra Parade, in the parish of St. Mungo, Glascow, Lanarkshire. Andrew was a power loom tenter.
