Family:Ambrose Allen and Elizabeth Syphers (2)

Ambrose I. Allen was born February 14, 1785 in Culpepper Co. Virginia and married Elizabeth Syphers who was born November 21, 1782 in Chester Co. Pa. They came to Indiana, probably around the same time as James and Lucinda as I did find them in the 1860 census. I have never done any research on this family. If I did I could possibly find marriage records on many of these children. Ambrose passed away January 1, 1866 and Elizabeth on July 25, 1870 and both are buried in Fountain Co. but I have no knowledge where unless they may be buried in the old part of Centennial Cemetery which was in the area that they lived. Their children are:

1. Joel Allen, born March 18, 1806 in Greene Co, Pa., where in fact all of their children were born in this County and state.
2. Phoebe Allen was born September 4, 1810.
3. Jacob Allen, born September 4, 1812.
4. John Allen, born July 18, 1814.
5. Lucinda Allen, born December 16, 1815; my 2nd Great-Grandmother.
6. Mary Allen was born November 4, 1818.
7. Abraham Allen, born February 1, 1820.
8. Susanna Allen, born March 18, 1821.
9. Elizabeth Allen, born May 4, 1823.
10. Melissa Allen, born November 12, 1827.

1. ↑ The marriage date was chosen prior to the birth of their first child. The marriage was probably in Pennsylvania as all of their children were born there. Ambrose probably moved to Pennsylvania from Virgina as a child.
