Alvaro Jay Hunter, b Oct 10, 1865 Plessis, Jefferson Co, NY, d. Jan 1, 1935, same, m. in 1886 Ida May Blevins, b Oct 29, 1865, Orleans, Jefferson Co, NY, d 1945, Plessis NY. Ida May Blevins was daughter of William Blevins of Orleans, Jefferson Co, NY and wife Jane Nancy Merrill. Jane Nancy Merrill's father James Merrill, b 1805 m. Sophia Shurtleff, b 1810, a direct descendant of William Shurtleff original member of the Plymouth Bay Colony, MA. Alvaro Jay Hunter and family resided for 17 yrs on the "Hunter Farm" owned by his father Thomas Hunter, b 1824, leasing 250 acres from Thomas Hunter, who had retired to live on Wall Street in Plessis, NY. Alvaro was the only son of Thomas Hunter. Alvaro and Ida May had four sons: Ross, Charles, Earl Alvaro (b 1893), and Ronald. Earl Hunter was executor to estate of his father, after Alvaro Jay Hunter's death in 1935, and lived in the origin farmhouse of Alvaro and Ida Hunter. Alvaro Jay Hunter, besides being a prominent cattle stock buyer---bring livestock from Canada to improve bloodlines---and dairy farmer, served for 18 yrs as County Assessor.
