When I was at the Mitchell Library Glasgow the other day I made some photocopies of music composed by Sir Alexander Campbell Mackenzie. Does anyone know the genealogy of this gentleman? Are there any descendants still living? Did his daughter Mary Campbell marry? Sir Alexander Campbell Mackenzie Mus.D. was born 1847. He was the son of Alexander Mackenzie of Edinburgh. Not only was Sir Alexander C Mackenzie an extremely fine composer, but he was also the Principal of the Royal Academy of Music; He was knighted 1895. In 1874 he married Mary Melina, the daughter of John Burnside. Together they had a daughter Mary Campbell. There are 2 CDs of his music now out on the market. (Sorry error: the daughter was Mary Campbell, and not Mary Melina.) ~Roderick
