Mary Ann Hawkins Stroud became a widow in 1832 and in 1850 her son, Francis Stroud, was living with his uncle, Dr. Martin Luther Hawkins. From the will of William D. Hawkins, Mary Ann's father, she was identified as Mary Ann Potts and given a legacy from his estate. Her full name would be Mary Ann Hawkins Stroud Potts. The will stated that if she was not living at the time of her legacy payment, the amount shall be granted to her children. This may mean that she had at least one Potts child in addition to her son Francis Stroud, and/or there are other Stroud children not yet discovered. |
