| Indian hostilities during the French and Indian War made settlement in Dauphin Township, and other areas west of the Susquehanna, unattractive until the middle of the 1760's. New warrants began to be issued in 1765. Some of these warrants appear to be issued to sons of earlier settlers, or their widows. Others represent new influx of settlers. The area is now so heavily settled that it would be nearly impossible to select a parcel that did not touch upon the lands of one or more neighboring settlers.
