"Quincy, Massachusetts was incorporated as a separate town from Braintree on February 22, 1792 and incorporated as a city May 17, 1888. The primary source records for this town were transcribed by Waldo C. Sprague from the originals held by the Quincy City Clerk’s Office, various churches, and private sources.

The records that form this database are part of the collection donated from estate of Mr. Sprague in 1962 to NEHGS. Included with his notebooks 34,000 paper slips that Sprague used as an alphabetical index after he transcribed the records into his notebooks."
