Wilmington is a small village and former parish in the Wealden District of East Sussex, England. It is a short distance east of another village named Folkington. The two villages and their parishes were combined in the latter part of the 20th century to become the parish of Long Man, named after a 69.2-metre (227 ft) chalk figure cut into the turf in the parish. The probable date of the merger was 1990, assuming that it was done at the same time as the establishment of Cuckmere Valley immediately to the south. Wilmington is about 6 miles northwest of Eastbourne. In Saxon times it was known as "Wineltone"; it was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086. In the village there is the 12th-century Parish Church of St Mary and St Peter; next to houses are the ruins of a 12th-century priory. A hamlet named Milton Street is also part of the parish.
