Uttlesford is a non-metropolitan local government district in Essex, England led by its council in a central town in the district, Saffron Walden, which is 38 miles (61 km) NNE of London. Its name is derived from the ancient Hundred of the same name. The district has a population of approximately 80,000 (2011 UK census), making a density of 320/sq mi (120/km2).
