Prentiss County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. As of 2010, the population was 25,276. Its county seat is Booneville. Prentiss County is named for Seargent Smith Prentiss, a famous speaker and debater from Natchez, MS. (Seargent was his first name, not a military title).
