Research Tips

Passage West is located on the outskirts of the City of Cork. It is located partly in the Parish of Marmullane and partly in the Parish of Monkstown. It owed its original prosperity to its deep water harbour. Goods for Cork City were unloaded there and taken by road into the city. It also became a popular Victorian bathing spot. Much of the town was built by the Parker and Boland families. The Parker family home, "Waterview", still stands on the hill overlooking the town. Visit the Passage West Information Page for more details on this history of the town.
