Hampstead is located on west side of the St. John River, 3.19 km southeast of Central Hampstead (see below) in Hampstead Parish in Queens County, New Brunswick. Hampstead had a post office from 1850. In 1866 Hampstead was a farming community with approximately 44 families, including 7 Palmer families; in 1871 the community and the surrounding district had a population of 250. In 1898 Hampstead was a farming settlement with 1 post office, 2 stores, 1 hotel and a population of 150.
