Caroga is a town in Fulton County, New York, USA. The population was 1,407 at the 2000 census. The town was named after a local creek.

The Town of Caroga is in the northern part of the county and is north of Gloversville and Johnstown.

The summer population of Caroga usually increases by more than 4,000 from the influx of tourists.

The town was first settled around 1783.

The town was created in 1842 from parts of the Towns of Bleecker, Johnstown, and Stratford.

The name of the town is an altered spelling of Garoga [Creek].

The industry of the early town was based on lumber and tanning. By 1890 the population was 624.
