William & his brother Thomas located early in Massachutes rather than Connecticut as evidenced by their fathers will (1661) which left the lands in Hadley to them. William has been shown in the records as early as 1661 taking the oath of freeman, which means he was over 21. Land records show sales of the land in 1671 & 1682.
William Webster married Mary Reeve, daughter of Thomas Reeve of Springfield, MA in 1670 when he was 53yrs. Their names appeared in Court Records when she was put on trial for Witchcraft. She was accused of "a familiaritee with ye devil." She was acquitted of the charges and the woman who accused her had to pay them 20 shillings and was to "be whipt with 13 lashes on ye naked body well laid on or to pay" the county 4 pounds. Her father agreed to pay the fine.
