female Paul Revere DAR made famous midnight ride to warn people of British invasion in New York for her Father Statue of Sibyl riding a horse in flight, proposed and built by Anna Hyatt Huntington of Bethel, Fairfield, Connecticut and presented to Enoch Crosby (Putnam Co.) Chapter of DAR. Offer was refused because they didn't know where to put it or be able to get money for upkeep. Finally put on fieldstone baseon shore of Lake Gleneida in town of Carmel. Dedications were held 8 Jun 1961. Replica of statue (smaller) on grounds of Danbury Public Library. Ride 26 Apr 1777 that Sibyl made to warn her Father's regiment. Historical markers erected along route she took. US Post Office for Bicentennial issued Sibyl Ludington commemortive stamp. 75,000 sold on 1st day in 1975.
