    "This Nicholas was knighted by King Henry VIII in person during his expedition to Boulogne, in August 1544. He possessed numerous estates in Oxford, Bucks, Northampton, Warwick and Lincoln, but his chief residence was at Lillingstone Lovell, co. Oxford which was given to him by the King in 1546. His will was proved 24 June 1557."
