MRS. SARAH ROWLES BONNETT
Funeral services for Mrs. Daniel G. Bonnett, 94, who died at her home, 702 East Court avenue, on Saturday evening, March 24, 1934, were held Tuesday forenoon at 10:30 o'clock, at the Beardsley Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Harry Secor, of the First Baptist church, and burial took place in the Chariton cemetery.
Sarah Rowles, daughter of David and Rebecca Rowles, was born in Fountain county, Indiana, on August 14, 1839. When about four years old she moved with her parents to Albia, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood and where she was married on March 6, 1866 to Daniel G. Bonnett.
They established their home on the farm a short distance west of Chariton where her son and family now reside, and where she lived until 1901, when she and her husband and daughter moved to their new home in Chariton. Two children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Bonnett, both of whom are living, John, near Chariton, and Miss Grace Bonnett, of Denver, Colorado. There is also one grandchild, Miss Martha Bonnett, of this city. Mr. Bonnett died on April 2, 1903.
Mrs. Bonnett was taken ill on Thursday with pneumonia, and her sickness was of but three days duration, during which time she was tenderly cared for by Miss Lennie Wright, who had made her home with her for fourteen years, and by her son, John Bonnett and wife.
Mrs. Bonnett had lived in this vicinity for sixty-nine years. She was the youngest of a family of eight children, all of whom have preceded her in death.
