    Obituary: Guy Robert Fairbrother, 26 Nov 2014
    Guy Robert “Bob/Doc” Fairbrother, 85 years young, of McCall/Lewiston, passed away on Nov. 23, 2014, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lewiston, Idaho, following a battle with cancer and a stroke.

    Bob was born July 7, 1929, at the family ranch at Norwood near McCall, Idaho, to Guy and Gladys Fairbrother. He attended Long Valley elementary schools in McCall and in Country School District 58 and high school at Donnelly High School, graduating his senior year from Nampa High School in 1947. He grew up on the family ranch tending livestock, milking cows, irrigating and farming with horses.

    In eighth-grade, he was employed by Lake Irrigation District as a Rivermaster on Lake Fork and Boulder Creeks for six years. He attended the University of Idaho and received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Washington State College in 1955. He married his wife of 55 years, Mildred Simpson, on Nov. 23, 1951, in the Presbyterian Church in Parma, Idaho. He practiced veterinary medicine in southern Idaho, mainly out of Burley and Bellevue, retiring in his 45th year of practice. They raised their family of four in Burley. . . . Mildred preceded him in death on July 20, 2006.

    On Jan. 13, 2007, Bob [remarried and he and his wife . . . . made their home in McCall and Lewiston.

    Bob was an avid outdoorsman, talented wood-artist, and a historical author. He published “Early Barns and Families” (Long Valley County, Idaho) in 2014, a history of families of the McCall area and the Lake Irrigation District. Bob participated in building projects on three different churches.

    He is survived by his wife . . .; his sister . . . .; [his children] . . .; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

    The memorial service was held at Our Savior Lutheran Church located at 100 N. Mission in McCall, Idaho, on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014.
