Mr. and Mrs. Robert Renwick pleasantly and successfully supervised a very delightful surprise open house gathering for immediate relatives Sunday afternoon at their rural home in Clare, in celebration of the 45th wedding anniversary of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. CIive Renwick, very well known and very well liked residents of Clare area for many years, who now reside in Sycamore. They have one granddaughter, Janet Renwick.
Over 50 family members were present to honor Mr. and Mrs. Renwick and to wish them well, coming from Dixon, Aurora , Glen Ellyn, Earlville, Lee, Shabbona, Kirkland, Huntley and Sycamore. Among those in attendance was the elderly mother of Clive Renwick, Mrs. R. R. Renwick of Sycamore, who is 91 years old.
The afternoon was spent in a pleasant social manner, and was concluded with the serving of a delicious buffet lunch from a table beautifully appointed in sapphire blue color motif. Enhancing the table setting was the large, special white wedding cake having green ornamentation. It was cut by Mrs. George McGraham of Dixon, sister of the bride of 45 years ago. Another sister, Mrs. John Firkins of Kirkand, poured coffee; and their niece, Mrs. Donald Firkins of Sycamore, served the punch. The honored couple was well remembered with lovely cards and gifts.
Mr. Renwick and the former Minnie Benson were married in Rollo Oct. 11, 1917. They farmed on the Renwick homestead in Clare until retiring in March of 1961 and moving to Sycamore to make their home.
It is the wish of their hosts of friends and family members that they will have many more happy anniversaries.
