MARY ANN KAHL was born in 1839 at Ireland.

She married SAMUEL L. CASSMAN, son of PHILANDER CASSMAN and CATHERINE (KATIE) PATTERSON, on 18 Jul 1861 at Tippecanoe County, Indiana. They had six children, first four sons and then two daughters. She and SAMUEL L. CASSMAN appeared on the census of 1870 at Tippecanoe Township, Tippecanoe County, Indiana. Sam and Mary's oldest son James died in 1871 at the age of nine.

She died in 1875. Mary died young in 1875. Mary was just 37 years old when she died, leaving her husband to raise the children, aged three to thirteen at the time of her death.
