Funeral Services held here for Van Westerhuyzen Funeral services for Joe Van Westerhuyzen were held in the First Reformed church Wednesday afternoon. Rev. A. A. Dykstra officiated and burial was in Valley View cemetery. Pallbearers were Jos Van Woudenberg, Arie Bliek, Herbert Bliek, Joo Gaalswyk, Tom Gaalswyk and Alvin Gaalswyk, nephews of thee deceased. Mr. Van Westerhuyzen died at the home of his daughter, Mrs Martin Van Der Veen near Brooten, Minn., Saturday morning, May 9, at the age of 81 years, four months and five days.

Mr Van Westerhuyzen was born Jan. 4, 1878, in Lymuiden, Netherland, and came to this country in the spring of 1899. He married Anne Verdoorn Feb. 25, 1904, at Rock Valley.

He served the First Reformed church of Rock Valley as elder before the family moved to Canada and again after their return. He also served as elder in the Christian Reformed church of Sioux Falls during their residence there. He retired from active farming some years ago and moved to Glenwood, Minn., where they resided until his last illness.

Survivors include his wife and the following children, Jeanette, Mrs Ben Seholten of Osakis, Minn., Mrs Johanna Ter Wee Of Fairview, S. D., Joe Van Westerhuyzen of Orange Calif., Henry Van Westerhuyzen of Pipestone, Minn., June, Mrs Martin Van De Veen of Brooten, Minn., and Pearl, Mrs Harold Johnson of Floodwood, Minn. Also 28 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were two daughters, Elsie and Elsie, Mrs Gerrit Mosterd, his parents and one brother.
