Hugh was a spirit and porter dealer and Grocer or Scotch Street, Downpatrick, in 1846, and of Market Street in 1850, and also a Publican in Scotch Street in 1852. (S3) He was also a ship owner and was also, possibly,a mine owner and farmer. (S5)
