p. 385 – on the 24th day of March 1849 said administrator by Angle and Dougherty his attorneys . . . [and] represent that he is informed and charges that Granville Reese one of the heirs of said Estate did receive by way of advancement in the life time of said deceased, real and personal estate to the amount and value of the sum of Three hundred dollars, and . . . that a writ of summon issue against them commanding them to be and appear before your honor at the next term of said court . . . . Your petitioner further represents that said Joseph Reese died leaving the following children his heirs at law . . . Granville Reese who has absented himself from the State of Indiana and not been heard from for more than 7 years leaving William Reese his son, . . . . And thereupon writs of summon were duly issued by said Clerk upon the suggestion of said Petitioner, to the Sheriffs of Boone, Marion, Johnson and Shelby counties, for said defendants to appear at the next term of said Court thereafter and answer said Petition – which said writs were all duly returned endorsed thus – The one to Johnson Co. thus “Came to hand April 2nd and was served by reading on the within named Cornelius McDermed & Martha McDermed his wife. Also Wm Reese as was herein commanded By Robert Johnson Sheriff and C. Snow deputy. April 3rd 1849.”

Probate Order Books – Record Book AA (orig p. nos) p. 26 – Joseph Rees appointed administrator 30 Sept 1835 of the estate of Robert Alexander deceased with Joseph Young as security. Inventory of personal property filed with sale bill for same, less property retained by widow Eleanor. Receipts filed for widow, John Ogle, Benjamin Alexander, William Trissler and John and Hugh Alexander, and Andrew Keefer for their shares. Money due Granville Rees and wife Mariah also filed in court. 13 Nov, 1837 Probate Order Books – Record Book B p. 32 – Joseph Rees admin of estate of Robert Alexander decd filed in court receipt of candaaleanor Alexander widow for her share of estate and recpts of John Ogle, Benjamin Alexander, William Tressler, John and Hugh Alexander and Andrew Koofer for their shares. The share of Granville Rees and his wife Maria was turned into the court. Final settlement made 14 Nov 1837.
