George E Earp --- Friday, March 10, 1950

Funeral services for Geor ge E Earp were held yesterday afternoon at the Turnbull Funeral Home. The Rev. John MaGill, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, was in charge.

Mrs Glenn Jones and Mrs Arvid Johnson sang to accompaniment by Mrs Marie Turnbull. Their numbers were "In the Garden" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere".

Flowers were arranged by Mrs Ernest Nelson, Mrs L E Westlake and Mrs Loren Evans.

Interment was made at the Monmouth cemetery, where pallbearers were Robert, Wayne, Dean, and Gene Earp, Joe Leary and George Brown.

After an illness of ten weeks, George E Earp, retired farmer, died at 1:53 o'clock this morning at Monmouth hospital. He had been a patient there only a short time.

Mr Earp was the last remaining member of a family of eleven children. He was the son of Jo

siah J and Elizabeth J (Allen) Earp and was born April 15, 1862, in Henderson county. He came to Warren county at the age of six and for many years farmed in Hale township, northwest of Monmouth. He r

etired from active farming about five years ago. Throughout his life Mr Earp greatly enjoyed livestock trading.

He was twice married, first to Miss Effie Ruse, who died March 20, 1926 and then t

o Mrs. Ida Martin, who died last June. Surviving are the following children: Mrs Lillian Brown and Ralph E Earp, both of Monmouth; Mrs Lois Leary, Aledo; Charles H Earp, Alexis; Harold G Earp, Little

York; Roy E Earp, Peoria; Mrs Effie Cramer, Edwards; Lawrence H Earp, Durant, IA. There are a number of granchildren and six great-grandsons.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Turnbull Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. John Magill. Burial will be in Monmouth cemetery. Friends may call at Turnbull's afternoon Wednesday until time for the service.
