DORMACELIA ARABELLA KEPLINGER was born circa 1851 at Hardy County, Virginia. Dorma had a rough adolescence. The Civil War began when she was nine. The main battles of the War occurred within a hundred miles of her home. She "moved" to a new state when West Virginia broke off a few years later. Her mother and two sisters died when she was fourteen, leaving her to help father raise her three remaining siblings, aged five through eleven.

She married JOHN KEPLINGER, son of JACOB K. KEPLINGER and MARY CATHERINE HALL, on 17 Apr 1868 at Grant County, West Virginia. Dormacelia married young, just three years after her mother's death. She and JOHN KEPLINGER appeared on the census of 1870 at Grant Township, Grant County, West Virginia. She and JOHN KEPLINGER appeared on the census of 1880 at Grant Township, Grant County, West Virginia. She and JOHN KEPLINGER appeared on the census of 1900 at Grant District, Grant County, West Virginia. In the 1900 census Dormacelia reports that she had nine children, six surviving. The 1900 census lists Dormacelia as the mother of nine children, six surviving. There must have been three children that died young. She and JOHN KEPLINGER appeared on the census of 1910 at Grant Township, Grant County, West Virginia.

She died on 28 Oct 1918 at Maysville, Grant County, West Virginia.
