Different answers were reported to different census enumerators, and in other public records, about Chloe Stansell's name, age and birthplace. Apparently Chloe and those around her did not wish to disclose too many details about her past.
At the age of 18 years old Chloe was an orphan.
By 1850 Chloe was living with Mary Hammond (55) and Mary's sons Franklin (24) and Henry (22) in Saline, while her sister and brother(s) were living separately but near each other in Green Oak.
It is possible that Franklin or Henry Hammond fathered Chloe's daughter Rosalia born in 1851.
