Mrs. Ayers, wife of M[yron] J. Ayers, died last Friday after a protracted illness caused by typhoid fever. The funeral was held at Withrow, Rev. Sykes preaching the sermon, internment in Waterville fraternity cemetery.

Mrs. Ayers, whose maiden name was Ardelia Gassaway, was born in Nevada county, California, August 19, 1870 and was married to Mr. Ayers in California in March 1889. Three girls, Mrs. Geo. Estill, Mrs. Frank Webber and Valentine, and one boy, Warren, were born to them. Mr. and Mrs. Ayers came to this county eigh years ago settling at old Lamoine and moving to Withrow on the starting of that town four years ago. [Douglas County Press 15 Oct 1914]
