[edit] Question:Who are Sophia's parents? Clues: Samuel Weand baptized a daughter, Anna Sophia Weand, in December 1831. There are three known Samuel Weands who were born in the 1800 to 1810 time frame in this area. Sophia was living with Catherine Weant in the 1850 census. Catherine is known to have had a son named Samuel. William Weand, son of Catherine Weant and part of the same 1850 census household, submitted an affidavit attesting to Sophia's marriage in her Civil War widow's pension file. He described Sophia as his mother's maid. The 1900 obituary of Harrison Weand of Reading, PA mentioned his sisters, Sophia Hauck of Sumneytown and Emma Bernhad of Norristown:
A Harrison Weant of the correct age was listed with William Weand in the 1850 census. Emma (Weand) Berhard was born about 1846. She would have been four or five in 1850. She may be the Malary Weant listed with Catherine Weant in the 1850 census. Sophia's tombstone refers to her as "Annie Sophia Hauck". References
