Surprise Birthday Dinner Thursday for Mrs. Richey

Friends and relatives of Mrs. Sarah Z. Richey surprised her with a basket birthday dinner and small gifts on her 80th birthday Thursday, Dec. 28 1959, at the home of her son, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Richey, on Infirmary street. the dinner was a complete surprise to her, and one of the first such surprises in her life, which she has spent in doing things for others. Mrs. Richey was born in DeKalb County, Alabama, Dec 28, 1859, and moved to Sulphur Springs, Texas, in March 1897. She has lived in Hopkins County since, spending most of the time in the Pine Forest community until last fall when she moved back to Sulphur Springs.
The centerpiece on the heavily loaded dinner table was a decorated Angel Food cake,baked by Mrs. Robert Anglin; and bearing the inscription "80th Birthday" in blue and pink.
Guests for the affair were: 'Mrs. Ollie Turrentine and son, Drew, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Anglin, Mrs. Wesley Turrentine, all of this city, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Anglin, Mrs. Oneida Gray, Mrs. and Mrs. Raymond Post and family and Sam Post, all of Pine Forest, Mrs. and Mrs. Andrew Richey and sons, Charlie and Leroy, and daughter, Juanita, Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Neighbors and baby, Miss Annie Flournoy, all of Pickton. Mrs. W. W. Phillips and Mrs. T. M. Robertson called in the afternoon. <br. Mrs. Gertrude Forms of Los Angeles and Mrs. Lewis Case of Woodward, Oklahoma sent gifts.
