James Madison Pilcher1777 - 1872

This is a photo of a cabinet card style photograph found with a relative's photos in California, taken by Carolyn Norlyn. Through Carolyn's diligence to document the Pilcher history, she was able to confirm the identification by correspondence with Mary Will Pilcher, daughter-in-law of Otto Pilcher (who was a son of Rev. George Washington Pilcher and a grandson of this James Madson Pilcher and Nancy SAGE). In a response from Mary Will Pilcher to Carolyn Norlyn, she stated, "And thank you for the pictures. I am sure the one is James Madison, but have no way of knowing about the old lady." In the next paragraph she states she is sending a copy of a history which, "a favorite teacher of mine wrote. She also had a much better picture of James M., but I gave it to my sister-in-law."

Thank you, Carolyn, for your dedication to uncover and preserve your family's history!
