Heirs of John Mauldin listed in his will were wife, Mary, daughters Sarah Hughes, Mary, Elizabeth and Frances, sons Joab, Taliaferro, Francis, James and Godfrey. Probate records show that Taliaferro and Francis, who were executors of the estate, were both dead by 1839 when Mary requests that a new executor be appointed. Matthew Mansell who married John's daughter Mary is appointed administrator. In 1866 Godfrey Mauldin died unmarried and Matthew Mansell administered his estate. This estate still was not settled in 1887 when Godfrey's nieces and nephews sued to settle the estate. Listed as heirs in the suit against Godfrey's estate:

Mary S White, a niece, Gilla Mauldin, widow of John W Mauldin, a nephew, J W Mauldin, and Augustus N Stone, husband of S E Mauldin, deceased, a niece of Godfrey, (these four from Douglass, GA, and believed to be children of Taliaferro based on deed records)

Heirs of Jane Wood, deceased, a sister of Godfrey, Isaac N Wood, Godfrey Wood, Jane Wood, and Fanny Wood.
