The supposition is that Richard Taber and Thomas Pavey's names were confused on this record, therefore, they should have been Richard Pavey and Thomas Taber. Supporting this supposition is a description of Owen Perrot Edwardes indicating that he had adopted the practice of signing the registers at the end of each year and that from 1800 to 1811 the registers were in his own handwriting. By 1806 Mr. Edwardes was 77 years old and by Oct 1808 had preached his last sermon. -- The records of St. Bartholomew's priory and of the church and parish of St. Bartholomew the Great, West Smithfield, Vol 2, pg 352 Source Citation: London Metropolitan Archives, St Bartholomew the Great, Register of baptisms, 1773 - 1812, P69/BAT3/A/002/MS06778, Item 003.
