  4. ↑ Dick Hamstra and Nettie Wilson were planning to marry before he sailed for France. Upon receiving a telegram that Dick was being transferred with his unit from Camp MacArthur, Texas to Camp Merrit, New Jersey, Nettie traveled by train to Dumont NJ with her brother James Wilson and his wife Rose. Dick and Nettie married on 16 Feb 1918. Dick boarded his ship on 17 Feb and the convoy departed for France on 18 Feb, one hour after midnight.

    The marriage was later recorded at Ottawa County MI.
