WeRelate:Suggestions/Change fixed Marriage event to dropdown on Family pg

On 18 Aug 2025 the Overview Committee discussed changing the fixed Marriage event line on the Family page to the dropdown menu that would default to "Marriage" but allow users to choose a different Type of Event if appropriate. Also discussed was adding a Type to the menu for non-married relationships, but a descriptor was not specified. User:DataAnalyst will look into this update.

I've been thinking about this some more and entering a lot of Marriage Bonds lately. One thing that would be nice to add If possible and not too complicated, would be to allow a Marriage Bond event to be a proxy for an unknown Marriage event, so that it will render on Search, similar to how a Christening event is a proxy for an unknown Birth event. Perhaps most of the other Types in the marriage dropdown list should also be allowed as proxies in Search if that event is the only one entered on a Family page. --cos1776 20:44, 22 August 2025 (UTC)
