Sources are needed [17 February 2015]

I understand the excitement of being new and making a contribution, but contributions on this website need to be documented by sources, especially since many previous posters may have spent considerable time researching the people involved. It will not generally be regarded as a good thing that you casuse a woman, Mercy Hale, to have two overlapping marriages without providing any sources to justify even one. All the while arguments found on the Talk pages that argue against exactly that are simply left unanswered. In particular the use of Mercy's brother as administrator of Simon Puffer's estate and a different brother being guardian of Simon's children is almost a guarantee that Mercy is Simon's wife. On the other hand, there is no evidence I am aware of that Abel Butterfield's wife Mercy is even a Hale/Heald. If there is, it would be a great service to post it. Other websites work differently, but we have a slightly higher standard, since we must all work on the same pages, so evidence should be objectively credible to satisfy the more serious posters. By evidence, then, isn't meant that it was posted on some website by an anonymous author whose credibility and diligence nobody knows, but that preferably it can be traced to a document that was written by a person that actually knew, i.e., in this case, in the 1700's. --Jrich 15:47, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
