Response to Steve & Karin [23 May 2009]

Hello Steve & Karin,

Welcome to WeRelate. I am a volunteer for WeRelate. My User name is DFree.

Hopefully you will find WeRelate to be to your liking, as I have. Maybe you will find a cousin or two, or another ancestor. As you use WeRelate you will find some WeRelate unique terms. A Watcher is one of those terms. A Watcher is any other WeRelate user that for some reason is interested in keeping track of a page that you are involved in. It could be a Community source page such as the 1790 census, or a discussion page such as the Watercooler. Many Users are a Watcher on a Person page that is somehow connected to their ancestors, but for some reason for now do not want to merge their page with the other User.

I am a Watcher to your page since I Welcomed you to WeRelate. The human touch so to speak. I hope when needed and wanted I can answer any question you have about WeRelate like this one, or will know who can answer your question. Since there is a learning curve using WeRelate we try to have another User there to help. Sometimes they are volunteers and sometimes they are Users such as yourself.

If you want to watch a page look at the top of the page you will see the word Watch. If you click that with your mouse you then will see it change to Unwatch. Then you can watch that page. If anyone changes that page you will be notified.

Hope to hear back from you, otherwise Welcome to WeRelate, Debbie Freeman --DFree 22:38, 21 May 2009 (EDT)

Thanks for the response, Debbie. I have a general idea of what is possible with WeRelate, but am still trying to figure out how to find a pedigree chart similar to what I am used to seeing with Family Tree Maker. Apparently, others are adding to the GedCom file I uploaded and I am starting to figure out the changes made. I am going to go thru the Tutorial next and see what that teachs me. Pedigree Map [23 May 2009]

I think you are looking for the Pedigree map. On a Person Page at the top right is More, click on More, that will bring up a small menu, click on Pedigree map it will bring up what you wish. I hope. Good Luck --DFree 20:34, 22 May 2009 (EDT)
