We are also Stoddart and Wesley is the name that has been passed down through our generations. We have a William John Wesley Stoddart aka George who was born also in Markdale Glenelg, Canada on 9 July 1897, married to Isabel Barker. He is my husband's grandfather. His parents are unsourced so far, but his father is believed to have come from Scotland. Can you help here? Regards Diana Stoddart dianastoddart@yahoo.co.uk (Yes I live in England now but my husband, James Stoddart was born in BC, Canada, and his father Andrew (Buzz) in Magnolia, alberta)--Dianastoddart 10:58, 10 June 2011 (EDT) Hi Diana, Nice to hear from you. I started this "we relate" years ago and I've forgotten how to use it. I hope this gets to you. You've said enough that I know we are related. This is a branch of my tree that I have many holes in but I know I have a death notice for Elmer G. Bus Stoddart from the Victoria Times Colonist, April 8, 2004. To my knowledge this family goes back to Stainton Durham England. There, William Stoddart (born 1798) and Martha Bainbridge (born 1801) had the family that we belong to. One of their children, George, married Elizabeth Jane Wright. She is my great grandfather's sister. They lived in Glenelg Township, Grey County, Ontario. Most of what I know is on Ancestry.com, but I just dropped my subcription for awhile because we're going out of town. If you belong, it would pop up using the William and Martha Stoddart names and then go to family trees. Mine is WRIGHT/JENSEN. If you don't belong you can contact me at mikejudywright@suddenlink.net. I'll send you copies of any of my informstion that interests you. Mike--Mikewright 17:20, 10 June 2011 (EDT) |
