Hello, I am a volunteer admin and it's my job to help people learn the system. You asked for help licensing your images. I can't license your images but I can give your guidance. There are numerous licensing options, but most images fall into one of these categories:

• Original published in US before 1923
• Low resolution copy of an historical photograph. (When you reduce the image before upload, the resolution is reduced.)
• Snippet of historical document
• Work of US government--Public domain
• If you took the picture, select the CC-BY-SA
• If you know the photographer, get written permission.

Hi Marianne, I am not related to Samuel Gimlin, he married into the Heistand family, which are part of the "Early Settlers of Augusta County, Virginia" project that I've been working on for the past 3 years or so...

Thanks, Jim. I'm slogging along with my input. I have TMG as my desktop program and don't want to use GedCom since I'll lose quite a lot of material so am thinking of inputting what I have by hand. I have quite a lot of source material to upload, primary records, deeds, court records, census, etc. It's pretty slow going and I suspect it will take years doing it this way. It's a shame to do it twice but I want to make sure what I've gathered will outlive me and this seems to be the solution. That being said...I'm on the cusp of 70 but in excellent health, and active, so I should have time to get the job done:-)--mdececo 22:10, 10 February 2012 (EST)
