▼ Catherine Shope Bryan [14 May 2010]

Hi Jaye- I think you are right assuming that Catherine fits into the family of Gabriel and Polly Shope, especially with the revelation that her father was listed as Gabriel on her death record. I have hit a brick wall finding any more info on Gabriel- I too have seen him in other Shope trees as John Gabriel m. to Polly Dollarhide but until I see some sources on this family I'm not buying it! One thing I did see in the Greenup marriage record of Catherine Shope to John Bryan was that a Christopher Shope was bondsman (or testified to her age- I can't remember) Certainly he was related, but I've never seen any Christopher Shope while researching my family in southern Ohio or Kentucky.
