Information on living people [20 September 2007]

Hi Gary,

Welcome to WeRelate! We're glad you joined us. I'm Mary, one of the volunteer administrators. In checking just a few of your people pages, I noticed that there is information posted on living (or presumably living) people. WeRelate has a policy not to post information about the living other than "Living" for a first name, the last name, and the person's gender. There should not be any more specific information posted, such as dates or places of birth and marriage. The privacy issue is more sensitive in some parts of the world than in others, but this is WeRelate's current policy. Normally, when a GEDCOM is uploaded, this information is stripped/converted, but because you used a different date format, specifically identifying information is still present on several person pages for living people.

Please check these entries and remove any specifically identifying information (first and middle names, dates, places). If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Dallan (dallan@werelate.org) or Solveig (solveig@werelate.org), or to post your question or comment on the Watercooler page (linked under the "Wiki" tab). Thanks in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

when do you reckon you will have exporting gedcoms ready?--Igibi 10:56, 20 September 2007 (EDT)

I believe that is slated to happen by the end of the calendar year. It will be a nice functionality to have!--Kittydoc 14:52, 20 September 2007 (EDT)
