For nearly 20 years, I did not know the maiden name of Lusinda, wife of L.R.Gay buried in the Chestnut Cemetery in Mercer County, MO. Then, a cousin on the internet suggested it was Cornett. Then, I found the death certificate of Matilda Gay--a daughter--and her half-sister had listed Cornett as the maiden name of the mother.
Through one brickwall and smack into another: No one has a daughter Lusinda married to L.R.Gay--but she existed, and since she died in 1846, before her father, probably, she must have been "forgotten" in the family stories. This page is my attempt to find her father.
