Meitzler

My full name is Leland Keith Meitzler, and I was born in 1950 in the rural community of Enumclaw, King County, Washington. My parents lived about 14 miles away between South Prairie and Orting, Pierce County Washington. We lived in a remodeled schoolhouse (known as the Arline School between 1912 and 1918). My folks were in the greenhouse business. I naturally spent much of my childhood, and young adult life involved with the production and marketing of foliage plants. I married Patty Daffern (my childhood sweetheart) in 1968. We now live in Bountiful, Utah.

I got seriously interested in genealogy at about 25, and began to actually make a few dollars in the business when my brother, Steve, and I began publication of Washington State local history materials in 1982. Steve and I founded Heritage Quest in 1985, and I edited Heritage Quest Magazine until 2006, when it ceased publication. In April of 2006, I took the job of Managing Editor for Everton’s Genealogical Helper. I do a daily blog which can be found at GenealogyBlog.com. I also conduct tours to Salt Lake City, Utah. The annual tour is called the Salt Lake Christmas Tour and has been conducted annually since 1985. I believe that genealogy research is both fun and rewarding, and I'll be doing it when they bury me....
